its a 3800 series 3.8l v-6(no supercharger). the diagonistic computer said bank 1 rich. and if you are talking about the mileage. it has been acting very funny. i.e. since i started driving it again. it says i have put on about 45 miles. i know there is more than that. also the in dash speedometer really doesn't work most of the time while my HUD works just fine.
the noise sort of sounds like a rubbing but only changes while slowing down or speeding up and stays constant at really any speed.

hello i have 2001 grand prix gt. i run a computer diagonostic and it came up as bank 1 too rich. also during accleration/deceleration there is a noise in the engine compartment. it doesn't happen when i'm turning right or when the engine is idling. are there any suggestions you could give that would help me with this problem.
Answer -
First You need to tell me what engine you have. Second, what kind of noise? Was the MIL on and is there a code that told you that bank 1 was rich?
Answer -
Ok, you still didn't answer my question. Was the "check engine" or "service engine soon" light on? And if if it was, was there are a code stored in the computer? If there was a code, what was it?
Now about the noise, you said it changes with the speed of the car, and doesn't do it at idle or turning right. Does it get worse when turning left?

Answer
The noise sounds like it is probably one of the front wheel bearings.
The inop speedometer sounds like you have a problem in the cluster.
The rich condition is probably nothing. If you did have a problem there would be a code stored. You probably just need someone who knows how to read a scanner correctly.
