Pontiac: 97 Bonneville Fuel Pump replacement?, access panel, gas tank

Question
I will make this short and sweet, but there is more info if you need it.  Had a strange problem with the car.. (would die/lose power out of nowhere).. so... 2mos ago had fuel filter replaced...didn't work..1mo ago...ignition module replaced...didn't work..this time..I am having the fuel pump replaced along with the strainer and a new fuel filter.  Question 1:  What kind of time and labor does this require?  Is my fuel pump in a weird place so there is a lot more work involved?  Question #2:  How could my fuel filter already need replaced if I just did it?  Would the fuel pump being bad cause that?

Thank You!

Answer
First of all you should stop replacing parts and have it diagnosed.
The fuel pump is inside the gas tank. The labor involved depends on if there is an access panel in the trunk to get to the pump.(the newer ones have an access but I dont remember what year they started) Or if they have to remove the gas tank to get to the pump.
Its not that your filter is bad already, but you always want to replace the filter when you replace a pump because of dirt, rust, pieces of the pump rotor, etc. that will clogg the filter.
About the time, about 1-1.5 hrs. if it has the access panel and about 2-3 hrs. if the tank has to come out.
