Saab: 1990 saab 900S non-turbo wont start, 1990 saab 900s, spark plug wire

Question
I had bought the car from a private seller recently, saying it  needed a fuel pump, and after testing to see if i could hear it when putting it at ON, and didn't and tested it on the battery, i found out that was the case. hundreds later... i replaced it and it at least started, but it would turn off when coming to a stop. i tried starting it again the next day and it wouldn't turn over... so i checked to see if it would spark... and it won't. how do you fix this? i'm at wits end! please help! thank you.

If I understand correctly, the fuel pump replacement seemed to work for a short while, but now there seems to be another[unrelated?]  problem one of a "no-spark" condition.
The most probable cause is a shorted rotor or distributor (and fortunately, the easiest and cheapest to fix). So I would recommend replacing both cap and rotor, as a first course of action. Then consider a spark plug wire set.  After that, the problem gets a little more complicated (and expensive)possibly involving the ignition module, hall effect sensor, or even a slipped timing chain (the worst!!). (all quite rare failures)
But let's takes first things first..as your investigation proceeds feel free to consult with me in the future.

                 Good luck,
