Volkswagen: 79 fuel injected super beetle, waffle iron, air sensor

Question
Hi, i have a  79  fuel injected bug that i am working on. The car seems to idle good but, as you drive it  seems to flood. The slightest hills give the car trouble as i step on the gas the car seems to slow down or flood and the more gas that i try to apply the slower the car will go. When you reach level ground or down hill and you start reducing the gas applied the car seems to run better. Thanks for you help Phil

Answer
Hi Phil,

The fuel injected beetles are very sensitive to vacuum leaks.

Check the following:

1) All hoses are in good shape and connected properly.
2) The black boot is connected to throttle body and intake air sensor and there are no leaks in the baffles.
3) The timing is set correctly.
4) The plug that goes into the intake air sensor (looks like waffle iron) has clean contacts.
5) The air filter is in good shape.

Let me know how you make out after these checks.
