Volkswagen: radio, radio wires, steering wheel

I JUST BOUGHT A 1971 SUPER BEETLE
THE RADIO DON'T WORK (AFTER MARKET )
I WANT TO PUT IN A NEW ONE
HOW DO I GET THE OLD ONE OUT - LOOKS LIKE I HAVE TO TAKE THE STEERING WHEEL OFF
IS THIS CORRECT

Hi Larry,

No you don't.  Remove the screws around the knobs in the front,  reach under the dash, and push it out through the front.

Make sure the battery is unhooked and the radio wires are disconnected and labeled prior to doing so.
