Volkswagen: 1998 Wolfsburg Alarm Program, 3 beeps, keyless entry system

I have the factory keyless entry system and it recenty  stoped working. I decided that the batterys for the keyless system were dead so i bought the approiote kind and now i dont know how to program it. I read all about 2 keys in the ignition and door and you push the unlock button but none of those things worked for me. I hear the 3 beeps but when i hit the buttons i dont hear any resoponce. what do i do?

Hi Mike,

Sometimes it is difficult to get that key to 'recognize' the car.   The easiest way to fix it, is to drive it to a VW dealer (no appt. necessary).

9 times out of ten, the service advisor will simply run it through it's routine and have you going in no time.

They should not charge you for this, it's a 5 minute programming cycle.
