Volkswagen: Hi John, Im new to the bug..., mid america motorworks, hex bar

Question
Hi John,
I'm new to the bug scene and was wanting to know if the following mods are worth the money. First I'll start with what I have.
It's a 1972 Beetle type 1 dual port engine. It has single carb, hi perf, heads, 120 cam, 090 distr.
I was looking at adding dual Weber 44 IDFs w/ hex bar linkage and the D.U.I. electronic egnition system offered by MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS. Would this be worth the $850 investment, or are there other mods you could recommend.
Thanks,
Tony

p.s. herer is a discription of the ignition system. Looks alot like GMs H.E.I. system.

Mid America Motorworks is now offering the D.U.I.-Davis Unified Ignition for VW Type 1 Motors. The D.U.I. is a one-piece, one wire distributor. The D.U.I., which is fully electronic, eliminates the hassles of changing points and makes for a much cleaner installation. The 50,000 volt coil, which is inside the cap, allows you to open up your plug gaps to .055". This burns your fuel more completely. The Dyna-module, which is located inside the distributor, has more electronic dwell time built in allowing the coil to saturate longer sending a massive spark to your plugs. A heavy duty cap and rotor with brass terminals insure maximum conductivity. The dialed in advance curve provides you with instant throttle response and prevents engine damaging detonation.

Answer
this is outside my area of expertease, however in principal it sounds good. larger carb allows better fuel flow, coupled with a more powerfull and more reliable ignition it should give more power across the rpm range. also with the imcreased power, you should also in theory get better economy as you will not be pushing it to it's limits to get anywhere.
