Volvo: Quirky S80 going haywire!, volvo s80, 2000 volvo s80

Question
I'm going to try to make this as concise and easy to understand as possible, but due to the seemingly random nature of my problems, it may not be easy!

I purchased my 2000 Volvo S80 this past April, and almost immediately had some warning lights start coming on...

Warning Lights:
The Check Engine, Brake, ABS, STC, and Service lights are all on. I'm pretty sure I'm due for an oil change, as well as a few other routine maintenance services, so that may be why the Service light is on. Sometimes only a few of the warning lights come on, sometimes my dash is lit up like a Christmas tree.

The strange part is if I tap on the horn, the speedometer will dip briefly (usually just down about 5 MPH, then pops back up) and the ABS and Brake light will shut off. Sometimes until the next time I start the car, but often they return after a few minutes.

Warning Messages:
The message center has one or more of the following error messages most of the time, usually coinciding with the warning lights where applicable:
Alarm Service Required
STC Service Required
Brake Failure Stop Safely ASAP
Coolant Level Low Stop Safely ASAP (the coolant level is full)
Bulb Failure Dipped Beam (Dipped beams do not come on when this message is shown. Forums have said that this is because of the CEM shunt behind the driver's side dash that has a bad connection, although I haven't replaced it yet, a gentle kick below the dash generally gets the lights back on).

Known Issues:
When my foot is OFF of the brake pedal, a hissing sound (like air escaping) emanates from the pedal. I've been advised that this is probably a problem with the brake booster, but I'm not sure if it is related to either of the warning lights.

The aforementioned CEM shunt that needs to be replaced under the dash.

That about wraps it up. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me on these issues! This is my last resort before going to the dealer and letting them eat my wallet!

Most appreciatively,
Stephen Davis

Answer
Stephen,
Ok the service light is a mileage counter and will come on at a predetermined interval possible every 5K. That is to remind you of service due. There have been many problems with the shunt in the CEM. I would consider replacing that asap. The message centers other messages, have the codes read and see if there are faults that can be addressed and repaired. STC and brake failure maybe the ABS control unit going out. The hissing from the brakes is the brake booster leaking. Since that is a vacuum leak it could in time set a check engine light for a fuel trim code.
There is not alot you can do without a scan tool to read codes and make tests.
