Volvo: 88 Volvo 760 Turbo Wagon (4cyl, A/T), volvo 760, switch car

Key will not turn in the ignition switch.  Car is parked in level driveway, wheels are not turned to either side nor are they up against a curb.  Steering wheel is locked but can be moved the slight amount necessary to make sure that's not what's keeping the key from turning.  A/T can be taken out of PARK and moved freely through all gears.  Car will roll in Neutral.  Any advice?

Since the car is a 760 not S70 if the key is not able to turn you will have to replace the steering column with another one. Those are the most difficult ones. This car will not have shift lock.
The laser cut key wears  out and will not turn the lock. If you somehow manage to turn the key with it in the # 1 position take a pin on the outside of the lock barrel push the pin and remove the lock cylinder and replace it.
