Volvo: 89 Volvo 240 dl, volvo 240 dl, volvo 240

Question
I just got a 89 Volvo 240 dl. The thermometer doesn't always work and the service and light bulb with a cross light comes on sometimes. I don't know if this is something to worry about because it only comes on sometimes and goes off or dims out.

Answer
Leon,
Your temp gauge is not working that will mean you have no idea if the engine is running too hot. That should really be repaired. The bulb out light sounds like it is on. You may have a burnt out bulb somewhere. You can check the lights yourself. If the light in the cluster sometimes only gets dim, you may have a ground or shorting problem in the cluster. If one of the lights is the service light it can be reset. Is there a small button to the far right lower corner of the cluster? Push that button in will reset the service light.
