Volvo: 1998 Volvo s70 speed sensor malfuction code., volvo s70, 1998 volvo s70

Hello Ray, I recently bought a 98 s70, and the checkengine light is on. I read the codes and what it read out was ///" speed sensor malfuction " the car has 127k miles and the previous owner installed 205-65-15 goodyears that in the front tear up the wheelhouse plastic cover. Could this have a effect on the sensor? One other little thing the overdrive light is blinking is that a relay problem? The shifter was all sticky with soda i took everything apart "everything" all day lol and now it shifts great though still blicking..HELP!!! Thank you for your time. dp

The speed sensor should be the one in the trans. So I do not think that the tires had anything to do with the failure. If the arrow is flashing that means that there is a code stored in the trans control unit. Read those codes and see what they say. Clear all codes in the systems and drive the car to see what if any come back and then start dealing with the ones that have returned.
