Volvo: 2000 volvo s40 manual (jerking when setting off), 2000 volvo s40, clutch plate

Question
Iv got a 2000 volvo s40 manual. Every time i lift the clutch to set off the car jerks forward, i cannot seem to set off slow. Its similar in second gear also.
It doesnt happen in the rest of the gears.

The clutch is kinda heavy, i dont know if thats normal?

Im sure the gearbox itself is ok, can it be worn engine mounts or even clutch plate that is causing it maybe?

Any help? Thanks

Answer
Tim,
You are more than likely going to need a clutch. You may also need to have the flywheel refaced. You will proably find the flywheel to have heat spots and small cracks.
Also test and inspect all the engine mounts as they also will make the car feel "jerky". There have been many engine mount failures.
