Question
Hello, I reviewed much of the Q&A related to the starting problems my car currently is experiencing. It will not start, I have tried teh following: Checked fuel pump fuses, ttried to take the distributor cap off to clean any contacts...question:...could it be the ingition coil or maybe the iginition elctronic module?...where is the module...is that under the distributor cap?...pleanty of gas, battery is in great condition, starter is trying to turn it over...no start....please help...thanks.

Answer
Jesse,
What the best thing to do is see what the fuel pressure is when cranking and also if you have spark. That way you sort of have a direction to follow. Depending on the year and what fuel system the car has under the cap maybe nothing or a Hall Effect switch. If there is a three prong electrical connection to the dist then it's a Hall Switch. The ignition control unit is mounted along side the steering column inside the car. Is the fuel pump running when you try to start? If not bad relay, pump. If it is running is the feed pump in the tank pumping?
