Volvo: Mass Air Flow Sensor, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
I own an '89 240GL. I just replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor on my car but have not reset the check engine light as yet. I took it out for a test drive and while the symptoms such as stalling that go along with a defective MAFS have disappeared I seem to have a new one. When I come to a stop I am experiencing, for lack of a better term, engine surging. Could this be because I didn't reset the check engine light?

Answer
The check engine light by itself isn't responsible for problems like that, unless it is still on because something else has failed.  I would reset it and see if it still comes on.  Also, the surging issue is general is due to some intake issues.  I would suggest cleaning out your throttle body first, that is usually the culprit.
