4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 4x4, s10 blazer, vacuum interlock

Question
i have a 97 s10 blazer that wont go into 4x4. the buttons on dash seem fine, the transfer case control sounds like it is engaging and the vaccuum actuator is staying engaged. which part would you think needs replacing?

Answer
Mike,

Without actually looking at the Blazer, it's almost impossible to guess what part needs replacing.

Do you have an electric, or vacuum interlock on the front differential.  It's possible that the transfer case is locking in, but the front differential isn't.

I would get a repair manual for the Blazer and check out the trouble shooting section on the front differential and the transfer case.

These can be purchased at most auto parts stores for, around $20, and are great sources for checking out problems.
