4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Diffs, dana 60, gear ratios

Question
Hey there... I have a 77 ford f150 currently on 33's. My question is.. I've shot a diff, (front) and am wondering what my best route to go is? Looking to replace both. and possibly the transfer case. Any suggestions?

Answer
Morgan,

This depends on how hard you run the Ford.

If you really like to hammer it, then check out Dana 60's, or Ford 9" differentials.  There are a lot of after market transfer cases out now.  The Atlas II, is one of the proven ones.  It is used in most of the hard core rockcrawlers, and you can get it in various gear ratios.

By upgrading to these components, they will have a better chance of surviving, when you go to the 38's, and land hard on that tough jump.
