4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 2001 S10 tailgate strap installation, torx bolts, auto parts stores

Question
I am trying to remove the old tailgate straps and put new ones on (old ones broke).  The torx bolts are out but the bracket seems to be attached by a spring somehow inside the tailgate itself, how do I, at home, remove the bracket which the strap is attached to, to get the new one on. Maybe you could direcet me to any other websites that may dissect the tailgate of my 2001 S10 so I could see how this is put together.

I don't know of any websites, but you can purchase a repair manual for your rig.  A Chilton's or a Hayne's manual can be purchased at most auto parts stores for $20.  They have a lot of information on basic trouble shooting, and repairs, including diagrams for removal, and installation of body components.  These manuals are designed for a year or range of years for specific vehicles, and are invaluable if you are planning on doing any repairs, or maintenance yourself.
