Jeep: jeep cherokee chevy swap, jeep cherokee, chevy v6

Question
1985 jeep cherokee w/a 2.8 v6 (vacuum lines everywhere). is there a chevy v6 hi per engine available. or is it just easier to put in a v8. where would you send me for the adapters etc. which engine would you recc. highway use nothing radical.

Answer
Advanced Adapters would be the prime choice for your adapters. Painless wiring can handle your harnesses. The thing is, if you are going to do a small block swap, you might as well change everything, the trans, TCase and even the axles, but I think that is way more than you are going to need if it is just for expressway use.

The 4.3L is abotu the most hi po engine you'd fine for a 6 cyl.

You do have a couple other choices. Keep it Jeep and get parts from a 4.0L and a 4.2L and build an inline stroker motor.

Swap in a 4.0L from a newer Cherokee and it will be a 4.0L high output.

Swap in a 5.2L from a Grand Cherokee.

Go balls out and put a 5.7L Hemi in it. This is getting more and more common in the Wranglers. My buddy has one is his Grand Cherokee.

Check out http://www.naxja.com and you will be able to find some of the info you need for any of these swaps.

Staying with a Jeep motor will definatly be easier. If you want more performance, just build the motor!
