Questionhi ,i have 2 questions ,firstly when cold the vitara it will not go into reverse gear until the idle goes back to 1000rpms,but if i go into 1st the back to reverse ,then it will reverse,secondly when i was going up a hill which was slightly steep it started to choke ,i was in 4th doing about 100kms or 50miles ,please lead me inthe right direction,thanks jay
AnswerI know absolutely nothing about a Vitara, but here goes. When you put it in first, (assuming, it's a manual trans) the synchronizers slow the shafts in the trans, making it possible to then engage reverse, which is not synchronized. If this is an auto trans question, I haven't had anything to do with automatics for well over twenty years.
I have no idea what could be the problem in the second case. I would need to be there to experience it first hand.
