Suzuki: Lever Arm on the Suzuki, clutch lever, clutch cable

Question
But the lever arm seems jammed in place and won't budge, so when I tighten the cable, it puts all this pressure on the cable which is why I think it frayed in the first place.

I get under the car and try to budge the lever arm where it goes into the transmission, and it won't move with a hammer.

Answer
If it's the clutch lever arm, it usually takes a couple of hundred pounds of force, which is why the clutch cable is so stout.  It may well be that the pilot bearing that supports the transmission mainshaft(the input shaft) in the rear of the flywheel has started to fail.  It's not at all an uncommon failure in samurais and sidekicks, but does require that the trans be removed, and while you're in there not replacing the rest of the clutch parts would be highly imprudent to say the least.  Go to izook.com and check out the links, you can get everything you need to do a clutch for only a couple hundred total, and the good news is that the trans is light enough that it can be lifted in and out by one person, so if you want to and have some brave friends, you can learn to be mechanics.
