Tips on Buying Cars: wanting two return a new and used car purchase, new honda crv, jim sears

Question
hi, my wife and i purchased a new honda crv and a used honda civic two days ago. my wife is terrified and feels we can't make the payments. are there laws in rhode island thought would allow us to reurn these two cars?

Answer
Hi leyon: Nope, No law allowing you to return them because of finance issues, as long as the process of signing the contacts and everything was done properly. But look, All is not lost. I have seen cases where the dealer has "unwound" a deal to help a customer out. This usually involved keeping you as a customer, and "moving" you to a different vehicle that has a lower payment. It is easier to do with the used car than the new one because the new car now is considered a used car. Try talking to the people at the dealership as soon as possible, and see what they can do to help. The sooner you get on this, the better. It is important that any deal changes be made prior to the dealership doing any title paperwork. I wish I had better news, but you just might make this work out. I am sure there will be a follow up question, as I would like to know how this works out. Thanks, Jim Sears.
