Tips on Buying Cars: CIVIC, civic hatchback, engine swap

Question
I'm looking at buying a 1990 civic hatchback and it has an engine swap froma 94 and its vtec. should i be worried about how well the swap was done? and where can i go to find out if it was done correctly?

Answer
Hi Jeremy
You can take the vehicle to a tranny shop, but if its in good running condition they wont be able to tell if it was installed correctly

I have never been a fan of re-build engines , they just never seem to run the same as factory installed, I think you main concern is getting value for your bucks, go to this link on my website  http://www.usedcartips.org/TESTDRI.html  its how I checked vehicles for condition and value, I don't expect you to become an expert over night but you will pick up a few pointers
