Tips on Buying Cars: Car for a teen, r32 vw, fan thanks

Question
Thanks for the reply. I would say that 20000 is the amount that I have to spend.
I have previously look at camaros because they are so cheep. Not sure about the insurance though. Eventhough I don't pay for that, i'm sure my parents wouldn't like that much.

I would really like to get an R32 VW but those are a little too much right now. I'll definitely look into the Mazda though. I have seen more of them around and they look pretty sharp.
What is your opinion on a WRX or Evo? I know that they are the latest rage for teens but are they really as good as everyone thinks they are? I personally know like them that much. I'm more of a European car fan.
Thanks again.

-----Question-----
Hello

I'm not in an immediate rush but I need a few good tips for a car. I have a bit more money than the average teen but i'm not sure exactly what I want. I have had my eyes on an Anniversary edition VW Golf. Its my neighbors with low miles. My question with this car or any VW, how is the maintance? I have heard both sides, not really sure which to believe.

Basically, i'm looking for something with a little zing and economical. The other company i've been looking at is oldsmobile. For an SUV, I like the Bravada. The newer body style is nice, plus its cheep. 40000K miles for about 12000 thousand. Do you think that this would be a good choice? With olds being out of business, so you think its a good idea to buy from this company? Its GM, but will parts be a problem in the future?
Thanks for everything.
Nick

I am not a big fan of new cars with poor resale... there is always a reason for that... I would say the golf (or a GTI) would be a good choice, they are sporty, high quality, and nice cars.  They will be costly to work on, and have avg. reliability... (lets say an average civic is a 9 and a KIA is a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10, the VW's would be a 5 or 6...) but they are still nice.  The Bravada... probably average in everything althouh I have no personal experience with them, no zing involved with that though... I like the golf's, I like mini's, I like civics & mustangs, even camaro's... parts probably wouldn't be a probelm on the Olds. because it is a GM product... but as i said... not my cup of tea.. the VW will hold its resale alot better too.  Also check out the mazda 6... good car for the money, let me know the price range and I can come up with more, but if you are content.. I say stick with the VW over a bravada... if you really want an SUV I would be able to offer better choices I assure you.  Get back with me,

20,000... wow you are a lucky kid, i will assume you just want to finance that 20,000? or is that cash? you may wish not to finance so much, unless your parents are paying for it... all euro cars will come at a price... both for the car and to keep it running... but if you must... look at a used 3 series BMW, VW GTI's, (if you can afford an R32 more power to you, they are good cars, although for the money you can get better performance), used c5 corvettes, WRX STi's and EVO's are amazing machines and if you like perfomance they would probably be the best you can afford... all of those cars are decently reliable, fast, and nice... as for insurance.. you can ask your agent and they will give you (or your parents) an idea of what it will cost... so don't count the camaro out if you like them... insurance was lower on my corvette than my ford explorer... so its always worth looking into... anyways... any of those cars are good cars, expensive to maintain, and avg. reliabilty... as all high performance and euro cars will be... with those cars its a question of money, miles, and what you like... that will be the biggest difference in the cars... i hope this helps...
