Tips on Buying Cars: Chevy S10, local community, chevy s10

Question
Hi Ray
I have a 1985 chevy s10 V6 with 74,000 miles on it. It was recently painted so theres no rust and it looks decent. I am planning on selling this truck now because it needs carbeurator work and it doesnt run very well. I was just wondering how much you think i could sell it for. I was just planning on selling it for 3 or 4 hundred dollars. What do you think.

Answer
Hi Nic
Had it been a sedan running poorly i would have said good luck its worth scrap...but its a pick-up and there is always demand...74K is low and it looks good, i would ponder my options, could you make it run good for lets say $200.?...and then ask $1000.or tell the buyer as is for $800.
advertise the truck in your local community paper to save cost - if you want to up for a few dollars more go autotrader...you have a commodity that may only be worth a few hundred to a dealer, but a lot more to the right consumer
SUMMARY
Over the years i cant count how many times i have had someone looking for a pick-up under $2000.for a cottage - ranch - farm - whatever
you never did enter your zip or postal code that would have given me a better idea what i am dealing with
Good luck
 Ray
