Tips on Buying Cars: tires, inch rims, inch tires

Question
I am considering buying a certain small 4-cylinder car. The salesman asked me whether I wanted 13-inch or 14-inch tires. Can you tell me whether 13 or 14 inch tires would give me a better ride and why? Thank you very much. Al Brown

Answer
Hey Al!

Lemme guess, it's a miata! am i right? ok, either way...there is no noticeable difference in terms of performance between 13 and 14 in. tires. The 14 inchers do look a little nicer on those smaller cars just since they're bigger. But they do cost a bit more. I can't give you an exact amount, but I'm sure you looked and saw the difference in price. If you arent going for looks, just stay with the 13 inch rims. Otherwise, if you have the spare change, get the 14 in. ones. Just dont expect any kind of change in performance or handling. If you have any other questions, dont hesitate.
