Tips on Buying Cars: returning demo cars, flooring carpet, demo cars

Question
Steve
I purchased a DEMO 2011 Tacoma 4-door 4x2 long bed about a month 1/2 ago, but only driven the truck for a week. due to leak on the seal of the windshield. leaked through the firewall an soaked the drivers deck(floor) dealership had it for a month.
They changed the seal, also told them to change the flooring carpet too.. a month later the said the truck was ready, but they had mold on the passenger front seat..told the sales manager an he said he is going to take it to the detailing shop personnally. thinking about exchanging the truck , is it possible?

Answer
Ken,
Sorry for your problems. What does your contract (bill of sale) say? Did they give you any warranty or was it sold as is? If sold as is, you do not have any ability to return it. No matter what is wrong you would be stuck. If you have say a 30 day warranty, they should fix it. Even if it takes 6 months. They probably will not let you exchange the vehicle without a loss of money. I may suggest, tell them you want an even exchange because they did not sell you a good working vehicle and did not live up to there side of the contract. If they refuse, you can tell them you will let an attorney handle it. If you go that route it may cost you some money out of pocket. Please let me know what happens, and let me know if you have any further questions. Good luck!
