Tips on Buying Cars: 2007 Dodge Caliber or 2009 Nissan Versa, dodge caliber, cvt transmissions

QUESTION: Hello,
I want to get a new car. I really like the Dodge Caliber but I have heard some people say they are not good cars but I don't really know WHY they are "bad" cars... any advice on this?

also I like the 2009 Nissan Versa... I don't like it as much as the Dodge but I want a reliable car and I have heard alot of good things about Nissans.

I know they both have CVT transmissions and have heard some positive and negative things about that as well.

Any advice you give me or if you can point me in the right direction that would be great.

ANSWER: Cassie:I have always like Nissan for low maintance costs.However in a different direction consider others too.For example check out the Chevy Cruise.And several questions come to mind:Have you driven these cars?Also take a list on what is important and not.Plus do not forget to consider only certified because of better warranty and better financing.The Dodge Caliber is not a bad car,only as a company it still remains uncertain.With time and a little research YOU will make the right decision.Good luck!

Cassie:Hello!My opinion on this transmission for Nissan has been around for years.And from what I have heard from my customers,very few problems.The best thing I can say about it:no shifting,a smooth ride all around.If your concerned about maintance costs,again consider a certified car.
