Tips on Buying Cars: Buying, leasing, commercial leasing, leasing companies

Question
I need a 3/4 ton long-bed truck to haul a 3000 lb when full slide-in camper two or more months a year, mainly in summer.  My best buy seems to be a 2007 V-10 Ford Lariat for around $15,000 from someone I know with nearly 70,000 miles.  Seems to be in excellent condition and seller has a good reputation.

First, how strongly should I consider buying a new basic truck for about $24,000 instead of the loaded Lariat for $15,000?

Second, ideally, I could lease a truck for two or more months each year for camping.  But lease rate is $1400 monthly.  It seems unlikely that I could find retired truck owners to lease to me in summer, so one remaining option of four seems to be for me to lease out my truck for about 6 months a year for around $5500.  I imagine I might be able to get some dealers or even commercial leasing companies to bird-dog me.  What do you think, what is best of four options option?

Answer
Hello Don,
I did some research and me personally would go with the first option, You could own that truck for 10 plus years and if you used it only for camping, it would still have less than 100k. The only 3/4 trucks I could find at that price had well over 140k miles on them. Since it's only used a couple of times a year, save yourself the $13,000 (taxes and fees incl.)difference from a new one.
