Tips on Buying Cars: Cars, nissan maxima, reliability ratings

Question
QUESTION: 1. What types of vehicles should I buy?
2. What should I focus on: engine, type, styles, costs, etc.?
3. I have a Nissan Maxima that cost $7,000 but kind of broken, how much do I get for selling it and is that a good exchange for getting a new car for yourself or is it better to exchange it.
4. Can you tell me all types of cars? give me all the names of cars

ANSWER: Henry,

Thanks for your questions.  The types of cars that you should look at is entirely up to you.  All makes, for the most part, these days are very quality vehicles.  The domestic cars have come a long way, and their reliablilty is superb.  For example were you aware that Buick actually has the best reliability ratings of any car in its class?  The foreign cars are very good cars as well.  I can't answer your question without knowing what type of vehicle you are looking for.  Compact, sub-compact, SUV, Truck, Full Size car, etc.

As for your vehicle that you currently own.  I would always let the dealership where you purchase your new car look at it and see what they are willing to give you.  I would do my research first on the value of the car.  Go to edmunds.com, kbb.com, nada.com to see what the value of the car is.  Also, look online at autotrader.com and see what dealers and private sellers are selling them for, and get an idea as to what is a good value the vehicle is worth, but take into consideration the cost to repair whatever is wrong with the vehicle since you say it is broken.

Hope this helps.

QUESTION: 1.  If a person want a car what do they look for: type, style, engine, color,  warranty , etc.

2. Of all vehicle what is the top ten: my first two is Motorcycle and then cars.
3. There are many types of vehicles what is all of them?

ANSWER: Henry,

Thanks for your follow up.  Again, what you look for is up to your personal preference.  If you want speed, then you look at engine.  If you want style, then you look at what appeals to you.  If you plan to keep the vehicle a while and you want reliability/warranty, then you look at a particular cars reliability ratings from edmunds.com and other consumer resources.

As for what is the top 10 in vehicles, well again that would depend on what you are looking for.  Speed/performance top 10 would be totally different from reliability top 10 and safety top 10, and style top 10.

You need to narrow down what you are looking for.  What is important to you.  What do you like about cars that you have owned, and what do you dislike about cars that you have owned.  What is more important to you - safety, reliability, performance, style.  All of those are different things, and you can't lump all cars into one category.  There are HUNDREDS of different models out there, and you need to narrow down exactly what you are looking for and then use consumer resources based on what is important to you.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but your question is difficult to answer without REALLY narrowing down what is important to you in a vehicle.

Hope this helps -

QUESTION: Then what is the number preferences.  I think to me, I do not know anything much about cars, it is hard to decide right.  So, there is practically no basic for my decision.  I think I cars that has four doors, excellent engine, good style, and good color.  There are many more features to cars beside and I could really be wrong.  How do I be sure? What is all the features of cars anyway.  I drive and test cars for some time and think that motorcycle and a car might be best to have but also maybe just a motorcycle instead of a car.

Answer
Ultimately Henry it is what is your preference. If you would rather have a motorcycle than a car then buy a motorcycle. If you are going to be paying for something then you need to get what you want. If you want just basic transportation then look at inexpensive 4 door or 2 door cars such as the Nissan sentra, Toyota corolla, ford focus, chevy cavalier, Pontiac G5. Those are all well made vehicles and have good styling, good performance and excellent reliability.

Hope this helps a little.
