Tips on Buying Cars: California sales tax on out of state buyer, california sales tax, state buyer

I am considering purchasing a used owned car from a California dealer. I live in Georgia and plan on registering the car in my home state. The dealer informed me that if I take delivery of the vehicle in CA to bring it to GA I have to pay a 9.75% California sales tax. When I register the car in GA I will have to pay a 7% tax. Is this double taxation legit in CA?

You need to check with Ca Dept of Transportation or go online and see the rules. I know that you can purchase a car in most states and you sign an affidavit that the car is being registered out of state and that relieves the dealer from collecting taxes. Never heard of paying double taxes?????
