Tips on Buying Cars: Leasing a BMW, bmw 3 series, scion tc

Question
I am 19 years old and was thinking about leasing a BMW 3 series convertible at the end of the summer.  I want to get it in my name but my parents will be the ones paying for most of it.  I would be trading in a 2006 Scion TC.  By the end of the summer I will have had my credit cards for 9 months.  So my question is due to the fact that I don't really have any credit, do I have a chance of qualifying for a lease or should I not even try?

Answer
Hi Nikki

Sorry for taking this long to get back to you as I took an extended long weekend to travel, you got a very short credit history and for you to qualify you most likely will need a co-signer, if you feel you can handle the terms provided there is no harm in trying for a lease.

LEASE You must FULLY understand the contract when leasing a vehicle. Whatever terms you agree to and sign, be 100% sure you will want to keep it for that term and fully understand the fine print. If you went to jail for 3 or 4 years, you would most likely be released early based on good behavior. Not so with a lease! There is no parole without severely hurting your pocketbook.
