Tires: load index, michelin energy, alarm bells

Question
Can I replace one rear tire (currently Michelin Energy 205/60R15 91H) with another different load index tire (Michelin Energy 205/60R15 90H)?  Other rear tire is almost new.  Have bmw 328i with 192,000 miles and trying to save $.  Or, any advice on how to go about getting good used tires?

Thanks

Answer
Jay,

This is a lot more complicated than the info you provided.  So let's get down to basics:

You should have 4 of the same make, model, and state wear wear for optimal handling.  The further you are from that, the greater the risk

What you have proposed seems to imply that Michelin has specifically designed a tire that is odd - and that raises alarm bells in my head.

I am not a fan of used tires.  If you don't understand tires very well, it is easy to buy some tires that are truly substandard.  The best advice I can offer is to avoid them!

I'll bet that what you have proposed is minor, but I can  NOT guarantee that is the case.
