QUESTION: My Lexus ES330,2006, came with P215/55R17, 93V Michelin tires. Would it be safe to switch to Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred tires with a 93H rating or a Comfort with a94H rating? Each store has a different answer. Thank you. I am 63 years old and drive under 70mph.

ANSWER: Tim,

Normally I don't recommend going down in speed rating, but this is only only step and you are still above an H rating - which i think is the minimum.

And while speed rating is independent of wear potential, higher speed ratings tend to use grippier tread compounds, which also means faster tread wear.
