Tires: Winter tires, narrow footprint, snow tires

Question
Hi, I have to get snow tires for my 2005 Dodge Dakota, The original tire size is 265/70r16. I was told that thinner tires would be better in winter. Can you recommend what i should use i was thinking of 215's or 205's.

Answer
James,

Generally speaking, a more narrow footprint is better on snow.  In order to maintain the same general overall diameter for your tire size you will need to use a P245/75R16.  This size has a more narrow footprint and should be offered in many A/S or Snow tread designs.
