Tires: Tires on Subaru with AWD, uniroyal tiger paw, subaru forester

Question
I have a Subaru Forester with AWD.  I've unfortunately gotten into a cycle of replacing two tires at a time.  Up to this point, that has not been a problem.  Recently, when new tires were put on the rear, I've begun experiencing handling problems. Everything just seems different and, when I correct slightly to miss a pothole, for example, it feels like I'm going to lose control of the vehicle.  Seems like rear wheels are not tracking properly?  The size and diameter of the four tires are identical, but they are different brands.  I've been using UniRoyal Tiger Paw, and the new tires are Kelly.  The front end was aligned when new tires were installed.  What could be going on?

Answer
Carole,

Subaru is very specific about its AWD.  The tires have to the same and about the same state of wear or you run the risk of early drivetrain failure.  You are not heeding their advice and you may be about to pay the price.

What I think is going on is that the diameter of the tires is different.  You've said they are the same - but are they truly?  Did you actually measure them or did you just take someone's word on it?

My advice would be to break the cycle NOW!!!
