Tires: camper tires, camper tires, rim width

Question
I have an old camper with 8.55  15 tires on it.
what is the new size i would need?
Thank You

Answer
Trying to fit modern radial tires to vehicles that came with bias ply tires is a bit problematic.  These old tires were like 82 aspect ratio and, of course, 82 aspect ratio tires don't exist any more.

There are 4 things that need to be considered:

Diameter, width, load capacity, and rim width.

I can tell you that a P225/75R15 has enough load capacity, is a bit smaller in diameter, a bit wider, and requires a wider rim.  Since I don't know what vehicle you have, I can not assess whether this would fit or not.  Even if you told me what the vehicle was, I can only check the rim width - I can't check for clearances.

So this is going to be one of those things where you will personally need to do some research.

BTW, if you are interested in maintaining the old style tire look, Coker Tire has tires available for vintage vehicles.

I hope this provides enough information so you can get started on your research.
