Tires: Need to buy light truck tires., michelin ltx m s, goodyear wrangler rt

Question
Andrew,

I am looking to replace the tires on my 95 Toyota Tacoma. The truck is a 4 X 4 and the tire size is 31/1050R-15. I am wanting a tire that is a good all terrain tire. I currently have Firestone AT tires. Most of my time is spent on the road but I do spend some time on Boat Lauches and in the snow during ski season. I want a tire that is not noisy at high speeds and is dependable and will give me good performance on the road, dirt and snow. I have looked at the Toyo AT and the Wild Country XTX. I have always had either Goodyear or Michelin tires. Is there a difference between manufactures? What brand of tire would you buy? My truck has 60k on it so I am planning on keeping the truck for many more years. There are so many choices out there I don't know what is a good tire and what is not a good tire. Can you help?

Thanks,

Trace

Answer
MICHELIN LTX M+S WOULD BE MY FIRST CHOICE.  BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN AT KO'S SECOND, AND GOODYEAR WRANGLER RT/S AS MY THIRD.  MICHELIN IS TOP $$$$ THOUGH.  STAY AWAY FROM WILD COUNTRY'S OR ANY PRIVATE LABEL TIRE.  THEY'RE GARBAGE.  CHECK OUT THE DAYTON ALL TERRAIN TIRE AS WELL.  YOU MAY LIKE THAT AS WELL.  LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU DECIDE! BEST OF LUCK
