Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: disc breaking, drum brake, ballance

Question
how should we use the "DISC BREAK" when we want to stop the bike without losing ballance especially when disc break is attached to front wheel only ?
How it works?
If possible please illustrate it with pictures.

Answer
Use a disc brake the same way you'd use a drum brake. Squeeze and stop.

Most (75-90%) of the braking comes from the front wheel. Squeeze the brake lever firmly and progressively (i.e., starting with light pressure and increasing pressure smoothly) until the bike comes to a stop.

Stay relaxed on the bike. When you use your brake, squeeze it smoothly, don't pump it on and off. This takes practice to get it right. One smooth squeeze, progressively, until the bike is stopped smoothly and safely.

When braking, it's best to do so in a straight line. Adapt your path of travel (move around in your lane of traffic if you need to) so that you approach a stop directly, or as straight as possible, and not while leaning or turning.

Make sure that when your bike comes to a stop your bike is straight up and down (vertical), with the handlebars squared (perpendicular or at a "T" intersection with the rest of the bike).

During normal stops it's okay to ease off the brake lever just a little right before the bike comes to a complete stop. This allows you a little more time to square the handlebars and be balanced when you come to a stop.

Good luck, and keep practicing. Nothing good ever comes easily! Some motorcycle techniques take years to perfect.
