Used Cars: batteries/alternator, battery cable, warning signs

Question
I purchased a used car and it is now just into 30 days of purchased.  The battery is smoking and bubbling.  Took to auto shop they said the alternator and batteries was working to hard.  have to replace.  Can I make the car dealership that I purchased the car from replace the two items?

Answer
Unless the car came with some kind of warranty, your on your own, You can ask the dealer to help you and see what they say. Alternators do not give any warning signs when they go out. Here is a way you can test it yourself, loosen your positive (red cable)battery cable but leave on, start your car, while the car is running remove your positive battery cable, do not let it touch metal, just pull it off and hold it, it will not hurt you because your grounded, if the car quits running, this means your alternator is not working and will need to be replaced, if the car stays running then most likely you just have a bad battery (replace it). Hope this helps let me know.
