Used Cars: 85 saab 900turbo, california smog laws, saab models

Question
It has been sitting for three years now. Didn't pass smog  then bought wrong catalyic converter in 2005 here in calif.
Now I just bought a new muffler and battery, but what about
a catalyic convertor in Ca in 2009?   Should I even waste my $ and time?  What other saab models ranging from  1990 to 2002 used would be your recommendation as far as reliabilty?

I am in here in Oklahoma, and I just do not know the exacts about California Smog Laws.  Just off of the cuff, it almost seems like you might be wasting your time and money.  The worse thing for cars are to sit around, so more than likely once you spend a chunk of money making the exhaust legal, you are probably going to run into quite a few more things that have went bad since then.  And in the end, just how much is a 85 Saab worth?  If I were you I would try selling it like it is ie: Craigslist or Ebay?  Maybe somebody is a collector, and just might be looking for something like that to have around to restore, or use for parts.
