1989 chevy 2wd pickup 305 v8 tbi 4spd auto. Trouble code 24 , brake light stays on. Speedometer and odmeter work intermitting . When speedo dosn't work you can feel lock-up torque converter go in and out. possible speed sensor?
Also where is the sensor located? any special removal procedures?

The speed sensor is located in the transmission tailshaft. Easy to remove.
Yes, it could be the problem. You can get a replacement from Auto Zone pretty cheap.

But the problem could also be a poor wire connection, or the speed buffer in the instrument cluster.
