Truck Repair: truck turning off, dodge ramcharger, carborator

Question
hi i have a 90 dodge ramcharger, with a 318 in it, duel exhaust and headers. about 2 weeks ago i filled my tank for a real cheap price, and i believed i had gotten bad fuel, but now i think its something else. my truck will completely shut down while im driving, and not start back up till i open up the carborator and spray starting fluid in it, wich sometimes takes four or five times. the fuel filter was replaced a year and a half ago by the previous owner, but he also ran it in trails, mud and ocean water frequently. and the entire carborator and fuel injectors were done at the same time. i innitially thought it was water in the gas, and added dry gas and octane booster. i ran the tank out and filled up with good ultra and added lucas tuneupinabottle, and have run that tank out and the problem remains and is starting to worsten. i only filled it half this time, with ultra again and added a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. the only other known problem i have with this truck is both the flowmaster mufflers are rusted out at the inlets, but the cats were replaced right before i bought the truck. .i know the fuel pump itself is working, i can hear it when i turn the key, and it starts up any given time immediatly with no hesitation, except when it shuts off while driving. any help you could give me would be very much appreciated. thank you

Answer
A year or not, I would remove the filter, catch some gas from the pump in a clean glass jar, and stick a new filter in.

Let the jar sit a few minutes, and see if a bubble of dirty, or possibly clean, water forms in the bottom. Just takes a minute.

Possibly gonna end up removing the tank and cleaning it.
