Truck Repair: hard starting 2006 cummins, cummins engines, 2006 dodge cummins

Question
Hello,
I'd like to know why my 2006 dodge cummins has to crank 5-6 secs before it will start. The temperture can be 80 deg's outside and the engine will crank repeatedly before it will fire. This is my 5th cummins I've owned 12 & 24 valves and they fire as soon as the wait to start light goes out with no hesitation. My new truck the wait to start light (the coil symbol) has not even came on and the dealership is telling this is normal on the new engines and I will not see it until the outside temperture gets below 60 degs.Is this normal and have you heard of anyone else having this problem.I would like to resolve this problem and hopefully this is not how the new cummins engines are suppose to be .Just doesnt seem to start with alot of force like the older diesel's.Thank's In Advance John..........

Answer
well i havent heard this befor.i think i would maybe ask another dealer on this .with out the glow plugs the engine has to start on compression alone and it would take some cranking to get it to fire .i dont think cummins would have made this like this because of engine wear would be faster on a cold start up.thanks for your question
