Truck Repair: a/c compressor in a 1994 c2500 2wd p.u., orifice tube, c2500

is it hard to  change a a/c compressor in a 1994 chevy C2500 3/4 ton chevy 2wd pick up..with the 5.0  (305)with tbi....my chilton repair manaul doesn't cover it..(i do most of my own work..but never had a truck with a/c before...lol

That isn't an especially hard task. You do need to properly remove the freon first though. if it is fully charged, be very careful, because if a drop of the freon in liquid form hits your eye, it will permanently damage it.

Ideally, a recovery machine is used. Then the acumulator should be replaced also, along with the fixed orifice tube and screen, and then a vacuum drawn on the system, before charging with the correct type and quantity of freon, more than likely 134A.
If yours happened to have the older type R12, this is the ideal time to retrofit it, but I bet it orriginally had 134A.

You can go to the public library, in the refference section, and look at an air conditioning manual.
