Vintage Cars: 1989 Jaguar : Good investment?, best saloon car, jaguar xj40

Question

front of car
I have a 1989 Red Jaguar XJ40 for sale. It has 4 Doors, Leather seats, and a sunroof. I got it at an auction for $1,100. It needs repairs that total 3,100 not including price for master switch and another item.
In what year from now will the car be considered an antique?
When it is considered an antique how much do you estimate it will be worth granted the car is in pristine condition.
Should I invest in it and wait for it to become an antique so I can make a profit or should I just sell it now?
The car is beautiful on the outside and doesn't show any exterior work needed.

Answer
Motoring Journalists of the time dubbed the XJ40 'The best saloon car in the world' beating regularly in group tests competitors from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls Royce and the ever popular XJ6 Series III that it was designed to replace." Things went so well that "the XJ40 consistently outsold all its rivals in 1989 becoming the most popular executive car of the late eighties."
A lot of them were made, so that will affect long term resale.A car is considered antique after 25 years
Average to high  sale value right now is between 5 and 7 thousand. That is a good mechanically sound and body sound car
Keeping or selling is really up to you , its a gamble either way.  Old cars have a funny way of costing more than you think.
