How to Find Jeep Recalls

When your Jeep has been recalled by the automobile manufacturer, it is definitely something you want to be aware of. If you are the owner of a new Jeep, you will likely receive a letter advising you of the recall. However, if no letter has been received you can still locate the recalls with ease. Neglecting to research recall information can be dangerous to you as well as other passengers you may transport in your Jeep.

Things You'll Need

  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

Your Jeep

  • Write down the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for your Jeep. The VIN can be found on the driver's side in the dashboard area.

  • Visit the official Jeep website. (See References)

  • Click on the "For Owners" link that is located on the top right hand side of the page.

  • Locate the "Recalls" section that is located on the left side panel of the page.

  • Select your geographic location.

  • Enter the last eight digits of your VIN into the search box. Press the "Go" button to yield search results.

  • View the results to determine whether or not your Jeep has been recalled.

Other Jeeps

  • Visit a website that will allow you to search for Jeep recalls by Jeep model. A few websites that will allow you to do this are the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), Internet Auto Guide, Automotive.Com and Motor Trends. (See Resources)

  • Select the Jeep model you would like to enquire about.

  • Select the year of the Jeep model.

  • View the results to see a list of recall notices for the Jeep model specified.
