Does a 2006 Saturn Vue Have Side Air Bags?

The Saturn Vue got a makeover in 2006 with interior and exterior improvements, but side impact airbags were not standard equipment in the Vue that year. Despite the lack of airbags, the Vue received five-star crash test ratings in all areas except the rollover rating, which was three-stars. Your 2006 Saturn Vue may be equipped with one type of side impact airbags, but these were optional.

Side Impact Air Bags

  • There are three types of side air bags, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Those that protect the torso are located in the seat back or in the door. Head SABs are mounted in the roof rail above the windows. Combo SABs are usually in the side of the seat and protect the head and torso of an adult. In 2006, the Vue had an option for head SABs located in the roof for both driver and passenger, front and rear. These were the type that would deploy in either a side or rollover accident. Look for a cover marked "AIR BAG" above the driver- or passenger-side window to determine if your Vue is equipped with these.
