How to Reinstate a Kansas License

For many, driving is a rite of adulthood. Besides carrying the driver from point to point, cars grant the driver a feeling of independence. With a driver's license, an individual must practice safe driving and orderly conduct. A suspended or revoked license is the consequences for irresponsible driving. Each state has its own rules and regulations to reinstate a driver's license. In Kansas, most of the work is handled by the Kansas Division of Vehicle Control Center.

  • Verify the status of your license with the "Kansas Driver's License Status Check." You will need to provide your license number, first and last name and your date of birth.

  • Contact the Kansas Control Center if your license is eligible for reinstatement. If your license was suspended because of DUI, you will need to fill out, pay $100 application fee and mail the "Application to Modify a Current Driver's License Suspension or Revocation and/or Request For Restricted Driving Privileges." The Kansas Driver Control Center mailing address is P.O. Box 12021, 915 SW Harrison St., Topeka, Kansas 66612.

  • Visit the Kansas Control Center in person if you need reinstatement for an issue other than DUI. The physical address is the Docking State Office Building, Driver Control - Room 100, 915 SW Harrison St., Topeka, Kansas.

  • Pay the reinstatement fee. Traffic tickets, alcohol-related and motor vehicle reinstatements must be paid in person. Insurance reinstatements can also be paid through a link from the Kansas Department of Revenue website.
