How to Find Out How Many Points I Have on My Driver's License in Florida

You can uncover how many points are on your Florida license by taking a look at your driving record. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles makes your record available online, or you can obtain a copy of it in person at a local driver license office or by mail.

Driver Record

  • Your Florida driving record discloses your traffic citations, including where you were ticketed and why. You also can receive points for a traffic violation that happened in another state -- if you would have received points for the violation in Florida, it gets added to your Florida driving record. The number of points you have is listed under the Violations section of your record. The more points you have, the greater your risk of having your license suspended.

Online Access

  • You can get free access to your driving record online from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles website. Provide your driver's license number and retype the characters shown on the screen, then press "Enter" button.

In-Person Access

  • You can obtain a copy of your driving record from a local driver license office. You can find a list of locations on the FDHSMV's website. You also can get your record from court clerks, tax collectors and private vendors that provide driver license services.

By Mail

  • To receive your driving record by mail, complete and submit a "Driver License Records Request" form to the Bureau of Records, P.O. Box 5775, Tallahassee, Florida 32314-5775. Send requests by next day and rush delivery to Bureau of Records, 2900 Apalachee Parkway, MS 90, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0575. The form is also available on the FDHSMV website. A three-year report is $8, while reports covering either seven years or your entire history are $10. If you want a certified copy of your report, regardless of the coverage period, the fee is $10. Payment can be made to the Division of Motorist Services. Turnaround time is two weeks from FDHSMV's receipt of your request.
