Edelbrock carburetors are believed to be amongst the easiest carburetors on the market to adjust. There are four possible adjustments that can be made to the Edelbrock Quicksilver Carburetor. These are idle speed, low-mid range, full-mid range and accelerator pump adjustments. Idle adjustments are mechanical and do not result in a change in the air or fuel supply to the engine.
Adjust the remote idle cable of the carburetor so that there is only 1/16 of slide opening. Turn on the engine and allow it to warm for 5 minutes. Set the idle of the carburetor to the manufacturer’s specification. This is the idle adjustment. Turn off the engine.
Take the carburetor out of the manifold and take the cap off using a 7/16 wrench. Turn the center slot of the needle adjuster to the right or left using the 3/16 flat blade screwdriver. Turning the needle to the right will richen the air/fuel mixture while turning the needle to the left will make the mixture leaner. A quarter (1/4) turn is equivalent to one click. Quicksilver manufacturers recommend using only 1 or 2 clicks.
Attach the slide actuator strip to the inside wheel using the Torx head T-10 screw and remove the slide assembly from the carburetor body. Using the 3/16 flat blade screwdriver, turn the needle adjuster until it stops. Ensure that the slots in the adjuster are aligned. Remove the needle adjuster, the needle and the needle spring from the slide using a flat head blade driver.
Insert the needle into the slide and slide the spring inside the slide with the smaller side of the spring facing the needle. Then insert the pin with the threaded hole facing the needle. Place a drop of Blue Loctite 242 on the threads of the needle adjuster and install the adjuster into the slide. Turn the needle adjuster using a 3/16 flat blade screwdriver to the right until it stops. Repeat this turning the needle to the left. This completes the mid-range to full throttle adjustment.
Reinstall and tighten the carburetor cap. Reinstall the carburetor in the manifold
